17-year-old TikTok star Sana Yousaf tragically killed after ‘rejecting’ man’s advances

17-year-old TikTok star Sana Yousaf tragically killed after 'rejecting' man's advancesWarning: This article contains discussion of domestic violence which some readers may find distressing.

A 17-year-old Pakistani TikTok star with a rising social media presence has been tragically murdered, with police saying she was targeted after rejecting a man’s repeated advances.

Sana Yousaf, who had built a fanbase of over half a million on Instagram and was quickly gaining popularity on TikTok, was shot and killed at her home in Islamabad on Monday. Authorities have arrested 22-year-old Umar Hayat in connection with her murder.

According to police, Hayat confessed to the killing after his alleged attempts to befriend Yousaf were turned down. He had reportedly made several failed efforts to meet her in person before breaking into her home.

Officers say Hayat entered the property, fired two gunshots, stole Yousaf’s phone, and fled the scene. Her aunt, who was at the house at the time, told police she was also threatened by the suspect. Tragically, Sana died before she could be taken to hospital.

Her father, Syed Yousaf Hassan, spoke to the BBC, revealing that Sana had never mentioned Hayat or any suspicious behaviour. He said: “She was my only daughter,” adding she was “very brave”.

The incident has shaken Pakistan, with police describing the crime as “brutal” and saying it triggered “a wave of concern” across the country. With “immense” pressure to bring the killer to justice, police combed through CCTV footage from over 100 cameras and carried out raids across both Islamabad and Punjab.

Authorities have now recovered the suspected murder weapon and Sana’s phone.

In the wake of her death, Sana’s social media accounts have been flooded with condolences. Her TikTok account has soared past one million followers, with many fans paying tribute to the influencer’s memory. Her final post below, a birthday video surrounded by balloons, has taken on a heart-breaking significance.

The tragedy has sparked a wider conversation about the treatment of women online in Pakistan, particularly those in the public eye. While many have expressed grief and anger over her death, some online users have targeted Sana posthumously with criticism for her content and lifestyle.

Usama Khilji, director of digital rights advocacy group Bolo Bhi, told the BBC the backlash has come from “a small portion of mostly male internet users – some of whom have cited religious grounds”.

Khilji explained: “They’re asking why she was putting up all this content, and even suggesting the family should take down her Instagram and TikTok accounts because they add to her ‘sins’”.

Dr Farzana Bari, a prominent human rights activist, pushed back against the online vitriol, describing the reaction as “misogynistic” and “patriarchal”.

Dr Bari said: “She had her own voice,” highlighting the risks female content creators face. Bari added: “Social media has become a very threatening place for female content creators” in Pakistan.

The Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, also condemned the killing, stating: “Women who choose to become social media influencers deserve our encouragement and support.” He called Sana’s murder “tragic”.

The suspect, Umar Hayat, is reportedly the son of a former public servant from Faisalabad, Punjab. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

A teenage TikTok star has tragically fallen to her death while taking a selfie at a waterfall in a “heartbreaking” incident.

The 14-year-old, Moe Sa Nay, was a rising star on the TikTok app before she lost her life while attempting to take a photo at a waterfall.

The tragedy took place on Monday, July 22, when Moe visited the Sinywa Waterfall in the town of Paung, Myanmar, with a friend.

Trying to take the pic with her friend, both girls fell but her friend was able to drift to land and survived with minor injuries.

Unfortunately, Moe became pinned between two large boulders in the water and, as the current got stronger, the young star drowned.

It took a rescue team time to dislodge her body and they weren’t able to initially retrieve it.

Her body was left in the water overnight and the following day, authorities had no choice but to tie ropes around her wrists in order to dislodge her body and retrieve it from the water.

A rescue worker named Mon Zaw commented on the death after Moe’s body was taken to Paung Township General Hospital for a post-mortem.

He said: “The one who slipped reached the bottom, but died after getting stuck between the rocks. She died because she couldn’t get out. They tried to rescue her, but couldn’t pull her out. Then the aid organizations and officials came.”

People took to TikTok to share their condolences for Moe’s passing, with one user writing: “It’s so heartbreaking, may she rest in peace.”

Another said: “It’s so heartbreaking to hear about this loss. Life is precious, be careful.”

A third person wrote: “May her soul rest in peace.”

And a fourth user added: “I’m so sorry for the family’s loss.”

This isn’t the first fatal incident to take place at a waterfall in Myanmar.

In a similar incident in 2019, two 19-year-old women died after falling at the Taw Naw Waterfall in Kayin, southeast Myanmar.

At the time, the Global New Light of Myanmar reported that they were taking photos at the top of the waterfall when they fell 60 meters to their deaths.

In March, an 11-year-old died after he took part in a TikTok “chroming” challenge with friends where people inhale toxic chemicals to experience a high.

Afterwards, his family urged for TikTok to be banned in the interest of safety for young people.

Warning: This article contains allegations of violence which some readers may find distressing.

Social media influencer and TikTok star Valeria Márquez, 23, was shot and killed while working at her beauty salon in Jalisco, Mexico this week, as two gunmen entered the building and shot her while she was live streaming on TikTok.

Videos and clips from Márquez’s live stream were being shared across social media, showing the moment that she was shot twice by the assailants on May 14, and officials have now verified the legitimacy of the videos, as reported by the Independent.

Márquez had amassed over 200,000 followers on various social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, and had opened her own beauty lounge last year called ‘Blossom’ alongside her existing modelling work.

She had also won a local beauty contest in 2021, earning herself the title of ‘Miss Rostro’ which she proudly displayed on her social media profiles.

However, her life was tragically cut short during a live stream, when two men entered the beauty salon and handed her a small parcel, which when unwrapped was revealed to be, in Valeria’s own words, a ‘little piglet’ – likely a stuffed animal of sorts.

After opening the gift she began interacting with it and showing the viewers of her live stream, before turning her face away from the camera to likely face the two men that had handed it over.

It was in that moment that she was shot, and was seen clutching her chest and slumping over in her chair. Speaking to the New York Times, Denis Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office, detailed that Márquez was “still sitting in the chair where she was surprised with that doll, the little pig, right there in her arms.”

The two assailants quickly fled the scene after Valeria was shot, and an unidentified woman turned off the live stream shortly after. TikTok has since removed the livestream and seemingly disabled her account on the platform, but aforementioned clips of the event are still circulating social media.

Officials currently don’t have any suspects for the crime, and it has been indicated that it’s highly likely that the two men didn’t know Márquez, and were simply her ‘executioners’.

Márquez’s death comes shortly after the shooting of Veracruz mayoral candidate Yesenia Lara Gutiérrez, who was killed alongside three others during a campaign march in the city on May 11, and is considered part of a larger, frightening trend of femicide across Mexico as a whole.

Popular American streamer Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa was also subject to an armed robbery that left her ‘covered in blood’ earlier this year, as she recalled how she feared for her life in her own home, claiming that she might never return to social media after the incident.

The apologies of Vitaly Zdorovetskiy could be destined to fall on deaf ears, as the controversial prankster begs for forgiveness from a Filipino detention facility. Known for his YouTube channel of VitalyzdTv, the Russian-born content creator has made a name for himself with his prank videos. Having been arrested numerous times before, Zdorovetskiy’s antics could finally be about to catch up to him after he was arrested in the Philippines on April 2, 2025.

Streaming live on Kick as he caused chaos in the Bonifacio Global City business district, Vitaly Zdorovetskiy’s misdemeanours include allegations of threatening to rob a woman in public, stealing a patrol motorcycle from a security guard, stealing from a McDonald’s kitchen, and stealing a firearm.

The YouTube star is supposedly being kept in harsh conditions that will likely include multiple inmates, a lack of air conditioning, and just $1.20 a day for three meals. It was originally expected that he could get a minimum sentence of five years when it eventually goes to trial. One Filipino lawyer has suggested that authorities might use a special penal code that only requires proof of actions instead of requiring proof of malice to earn a conviction.

Even though Zdorovetskiy has a net worth that could be as high as $91 million, that won’t help him if he’s slapped with 24 years in a Filipino prison.

The Russian government has already denounced Zdorovetskiy, but appealing to someone’s better nature, he’s trying to show remorse while citing mental health issues for his actions.

Speaking to 24 Oras, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla explained how the YouTuber has made a plea for his freedom: “He wrote to me saying he is suffering from mental health issues and asking if the charges can be dropped. He apologized.”

Still, the Department of the Interior and Local Government has reclarified that Zdorovetskiy will go to trial in a matter of days. His rap sheet includes three counts of unjust vexation thanks to complaints filed by police officers who claim to be his victims. Although not the lengthy sentence that was first predicted, he could face up to 18 months in a Filipino prison if convicted. Remulla reiterated: “We will service his sentence, sinigurado ko po ‘yun (I will make sure of that.)”

There’s also a Change.org petition alleging the YouTuber verbally harassed a Filipino surf instructor while using vulgar and sexually degrading language.

After the Bureau of Immigration deemed Zdorovetskiy an ‘undesirable alien’ and a theft charge was dropped, the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office pushed through with his trial under the unjust vexation complaints.

Despite Zdorovetskiy’s side wanting to settle privately with the officers involved, Remulla said: “Fortunately, the security guards were strong-willed, they didn’t give in, and we’re pursuing the case.”

As neither Russia nor the United States wants to take Zdorovetskiy in, Remulla concluded: “So we don’t know where to send him.”

For the time being, Vitaly Zdorovetskiy is still being detained at the Bureau of Immigration.

TikTok star arrested in connection with the brutal murder of therapist following worrying videos

The TikToker had previously said he was ‘practicing’ his mug shot

A TikTok star has been arrested in connection to the brutal murder of a therapist after posting concerning videos.

Known online as Mr. Prada, Terryon Thomas was taken into custody last week after the body of a man was found beaten and wrapped in tarp along a highway on September 28.

Thomas was seen driving the victim’s car a day after his body had been found.

The TikToker was approached by police during a traffic stop but allegedly refused to obey orders and backed into a police car, before fleeing the scene on foot.

CCTV images of Thomas were released and social media users quickly realized who he was.

The 20-year-old content creator has over 4.3 million followers on TikTok and is known for his comedy sketches.

The victim is 69-year-old therapist William ‘Nick’ Abraham, and police have revealed that Thomas wasn’t a patient of his.

In a news conference, Sheriff Gerald Sticker said that the victim ‘was bludgeoned about in the head, shoulders and neck. There was a lot of bruising’.

Originally charged with second-degree murder, the TikToker is now facing charges of first-degree murder and obstruction of justice, prosecutors confirmed this week.

Thomas’ charge has been upgraded under a Louisiana law that allows the more serious charge when ‘the offender has the specific intent to kill or inflict great bodily harm upon a victim who is under the age of 12 or 65 years of age or older’, local media reports.

Fans of Thomas have claimed that his videos seemed to shift in content in the months leading up to the murder.

In one video, he told viewers: “I’m bipolar… ya’ll never seen anybody that’s bipolar before? I was trying to hide it but it just slipped out.”

In another video, he said: “Life is a prison, get me the f**k out.”

And in April, Thomas wrote: “When you’ve gone a little too long without getting in trouble and you feel a cannon event approaching.”

In a post from May 2023, he wrote: “Practicing for my mug shot cus this might be the year someone gonna meet God if they p*ss me off too much.”

It’s still unclear what Thomas’ motive for the murder was, and a link between the two men is still being established by police.

East Baton Rouge Parish court records obtained by WWL show that Abraham was previously arrested in 2015 for allegedly inappropriately touching an 11-year-old boy during a therapy session.

He was never charged in the incident, and Sheriff Sticker shared that while he is aware of the arrest, he is focusing on locating where the therapist was murdered.

Speaking to WBRZ, Abraham’s attorney, Jarrett Ambeau, said: “He was kind, loving, a gentle man and frankly not the kind of man that something like this would’ve happened to.

“I’m absolutely devastated and completely surprised that something like that could’ve happened to a man who I believe to be so tender and so gentle and have such a service heart.”
