Viewers gobsmacked after only just realizing MrBeast stars in hit Netflix series

Fans are only realising MrBeast starred in a Netflix hit series.

There’s something amusing about seeing famous faces worked into TV shows or games. Rockstar Games is iconic for basing its characters off real life celebrities and trends – one one of the most recognisable being Tesla CEO Elon Musk in GTA V Online.

Now, people on social media were left stunned after noticing a character in Love, Death & Robots looked (and sounded) an awful lot like the world’s most popular YouTuber.

“Why does this character look and sound like MrBeast,” user Priy Devvrat Singh asked on X, referring to a scene in Season 4, Episode 7 of the hit Netflix series.

Turns out, it wasn’t just a coincidence either.

As confirmed by Jimmy ‘MrBeast‘ Donaldson himself, the YouTuber voiced the evil, over-the-top game master in the episode titled ‘The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur.’

Apparently, the 26-year-old is a huge fan of the Love, Death & Robots series as well. According to an interview, director Tim Miller thought he’d be a perfect fit for the role of the arena host. Miller told Screenrant that after being invited to Donaldson’s house, he spotted several Love, Death & Robots posters on the walls.

Having been familiar with Donaldson’s YouTube videos, where he hosts over-the-top contests where people compete in crazy challenges for prize money – as well as the Amazon hit series Beast Games that saw one winner receive $10,000,000 – Miller figured he’d be the ideal choice for a charismatic host in this chaotic, dinosaur-fuelled gladiator battle set on Jupiter’s moon Europa.

What was even more surprising for the X user who spotted him is that he got a personal response from the philanthropist himself.

In a follow-up post, Priy mentioned that MrBeast replied to him in an Instagram story which ‘made his day.’

“I got an answer from @MrBeast on his insta,” Priy shared.”Dayum, can’t believe I was the one to point this out. Crazy”

Set on one of Jupiter’s largest moon Europa, the seventh episode centres around a cosmic wedding between Lord Chalon and Duchess Saraka of Callisto. MrBeast’s character introduces us to six highly-trained warriors who must mount a deadly triceratops and battle each other in a savage race that is destined to end in bloodshed.

The fourth season of the animated anthology series premiered on 15 May 2025 and is available to stream on Netflix now.

People are shocked after only just realizing what ‘scuba’ actually stands for

Social media users have been left stunned

People have been left shocked after only just realizing what ‘scuba’ actually stands for.

While the first open-circuit scuba system was developed 100 years ago by Yves Le Prieur but it wasn’t until 1942 that the first successful and safe open-circuit scuba was designed by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan.

Cousteau was also an explorer who was a groundbreaker in his field, even discovering the mysterious 400 foot Great Blue Hole in the Caribbean Sea and bringing it to the world’s attention.

Since then, scuba has been a term people have associated with diving underwater.

However, social media users have been sent into a frenzy after finding out what the word actually means, with some not realizing that the word is an acronym.

It turns out that scuba actually stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to react to the revelation, one user wrote: “’Wow this is the very first time I’m seeing the meaning to scuba.”

Another said: “It was originally a technical term used by the military and engineers, but it became so widely used that it evolved into a regular word.”

The acronym was first coined by Major Christian J. Lambertsen in 1952, who was a medical researcher from Westfield, New Jersey. But this isn’t the only word that is secretly an acronym.

There are plenty of words we commonly use everyday without realizing their origins.

The word laser actually stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation while radar is short for Radio Detection and Ranging.

Since the word scuba has been popularized, Couseau’s grandson Fabien has followed in his footsteps.

Revisiting the giant hole in the sea first uncovered by his grandfather, Fabien decided to take on the feat of venturing down into the hole back in 2018.

Virgin boss Richard Branson joined him on the trip, which saw them traveling down in two submarines.

There, they made some incredible and rather disturbing discoveries.

Below 300 feet, the water was dark and lifeless but at the bottom, they uncovered some hidden secrets.

Along the bottom of the put was discarded trash, including a two liter plastic bottle.

There was also a lost GoPro which had some vacation photos captured on it.

However, another find was made that nobody expected.

Two bodies were uncovered lying on the seafloor.

These were the bodies of explorers who had gone missing on a previous expedition.

While the team along with Fabien and Branson made the decision that it was best to leave the corpses where they were, they did inform the Belize government.

Now available to watch on Netflix, the show follows the story of a Stockholm detective named Hanna who has been suspended from duty.

Hanna heads to the seemingly quiet ski resort town of Åre, where she starts to uncover a mysterious series of events around the disappearance of a young woman named Amanda.

In the five-part series, Hanna teams up with a local detective named Daniel as they try to get some answers on how the woman vanished.

Despite having just been released, the show is already a massive hit, with millions of people bingeing the entire show in the last few days.

Many viewers have taken to social media to share their own thoughts on it, with one user writing on X, formerly Twitter: “Just finished watching #TheÅreMurders on @Netflix_CA So good!!! Well done!!! Story, filming, cast are all excellent. Loved this series!!!.”

Another said: “The Åre Murders (Åremorden/Swedish) on Netflix was good. I hope there is a second season soon.”

A third person took to Reddit to say: “I enjoyed it. Could have used a couple more episodes per case, but better than to have it drag and feel slow.”

Wrestling legend Kenny Omega believes the pair could headline WrestleMania together

A wrestling star has tipped MrBeast to go head-to-head with Logan Paul in a headline fight.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Kenny Omega has revealed that he thinks there is a possible fight between the two YouTubers in the near future.

Logan Paul and MrBeast could headline an event together, according to Omega.

Paul moved away from social media and turned his hand to wrestling in 2021 after making his WWE debut.

The following year, the YouTuber signed a multi-year contract with WWE, fighting under the name ‘The Maverick’.

Meanwhile MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, also broke into traditional media with his TV show Beast Games launching on Amazon Prime.

Donaldson also owns a chocolate brand, Feastibles, which collaborates with Paul’s brand, Lunchly.

And it seems that the influencers could collaborate on another venture as Omega believes the pair could headline a WrestleMania event together.

Appearing on an episode of the AAA Podcast, the wrestling legend spoke to YouTuber Adi Shankar, where he said: “I don’t know if I’ve ever said it publicly or not, but I mean, I think we’re headed on a path where, a couple of WrestleManias down the road, the main event’s gonna be Logan Paul vs MrBeast.

“It’s like, what is the wrestling acumen? How many miles have they put into it? Does it matter? It’s the process of evolution. People are getting cast in roles for films just based on their social media following.

“That’s kind of in relation to the Logan Paul thing. He just decided he wanted to try wrestling… I would say it’s more that, but also, that thing that was once so protected, that insider industry kayfabe… the doors are almost wide-open. It’s a paper-thin curtain.”

Paul isn’t the only social media star that has paved a career in wrestling as his own brother, Jake Paul, has also been making waves, even fighting Mike Tyson in an event that seemed to grip the world.

Jake has gone on to claim that he has dreams of becoming a legitimate world champion.

After his fight against Tyson, Jake appeared on his brother’s podcast, Impaulsive, to share his thoughts on the fight.

He said: “I wish he would have put up a better fight so I could have risen more and done more.

“He was surviving, so that was the only thing I didn’t like.”

Jake added: “I want to be a world champion, that’s my goal.”

Mexico demands compensation from MrBeast following controversial video filmed in ancient temples

MrBeast has spoken out about the claims on social media

Mexico has demanded compensation from MrBeast following a controversial video filmed in ancient temples.

Officials denied that the YouTuber was granted for-profit access to the temples.

Since the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) spoke out, MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has changed the title of his video from ‘I Survived 100 Hours In An Ancient Temple’ to ‘I Explored 2000 Year Old Ancient Temples’.

In a statement, the INAH said: “The visit and recording of the archaeological sites of Calakmul, Campeche, and Chichén Itzá and Balamcanché, Yucatán, were carried out in accordance with formal requests made by the federal Ministry of Tourism and the governments of the two aforementioned states.”

Contrary to what appears in the video, the INAH also claimed that ‘no drone flight’ at Chichén Itzá was carried out inside El Castillo, arguing that this was ‘falsely reported in the video’.

Instead, the institute said that the flight took place outside of the structure.

The INAH continued: “It should be noted that the video evidently involves extensive audiovisual post-production work and alludes to events that never occurred. For example, the producers never descended from a helicopter, spent the night inside the archaeological site, or possessed a pre-Hispanic mask, as the one presented is clearly a contemporary reproduction.

“All of these are false assertions that reflect the theatricality of the YouTuber in question.”

Last Wednesday (May 14), Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum called for an investigation into the conditions where the filming permit had been granted.

In a statement, Mexico’s Secretary of Culture Claudia Curiel de Icaza said: “We disapprove of any commercial pursuit that distorts the value of archaeological sites, which are a legacy of our indigenous cultures and the pride of our nation.”

Instead, she said that the country was open to content being produced that contributes to the ‘knowledge and dissemination of Mexico’s archaeological and cultural heritage’ rather than those who ‘take advantage of the willingness of institutions’.

Now, Mexico is seeking compensation from the producers of the MrBeast video.

Donaldson has also spoken out on social media.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the YouTuber said: “I’ve seen a lot of stories about our recent video in Mexico and wanted to clear some false things being said. Me and my team have great respect for the Mexican and Mayan culture and people. We did this video to get people all over the world excited to learn more about their culture, much like we did with our Pyramids video.

“We are not and have never been sued by them lol. That is false and it saddens me to see people spreading lies. We filmed with full permits, followed guidelines, had representatives from government agencies following us, Mexican archeologists to make sure we were accurate, AND representatives from the sites to ensure we were following the rules.”

His full statement can be read here.
